We made changes to Green our practice by reducing paper usage and by using electronic means to communicate with our patients. We recycle paper to minimize paper usage. We reuse and refill toners and recycle our ink cartridges. We cut down on Styrofoam use by using mugs, plates and silverware. We reuse boxes and other shipping and packaging materials and make sure local cardboard is recycled. We fixed our facuets to cut down on water usage and by installing low flow toilets. We use CFL compact fluroescent light bulbs which last longer, produce less heat and reduce greenhouse gases. We have high quality interior air for a healthy practice as fresh air can help minimize illness and increase general comfort using efficient HVAC system.
Mercury Safe Practice The good news is that there are several available alternatives to amalgam fillings. We use tooth colored instead of silver amalgam restorations which reduce mercury and other heavy metals into the water system. We use the safest and highest quality of white hybrid resin ccomposite to enhance your smile to replace those harmful mercury fillings.
Surgical Loupes- Dr. Silva always works in microscopic surgical loupes for a more precise result. This allows him to see at a magnified level enabling him to remove decay that he would otherwise not see with the naked eye. It also enables him to get a microscopic seal on crowns, helping to avoid leakage, future decay, root canals and tooth loss.
Laser Bacterial Reduction-We have an effective treatment that help us control the periodontal infection in your mouth. Laser is used together with scaling and root planing to significantly reduce the depth of the infected pockets and prevent the progression of periodontal disease.
